From the Guardian Unlimited in England, an article about publishing the last Harry Potter book with recycled or sustainable paper. Did you know that the last book–The Half Blood Prince, was not printed on recycled paper? The initial printing of 10.8 million copies used up almost 220,000 mature trees. Over 15.6 million copies have been sold in the U.S. alone–that’salottatrees.

On Al Poynter’s ‘Morning Meeting’ page this week he has links to a variety of official studies and reports about college athletic teams–their graduation rates, funding and fundraising and the financial consequences of March Madness including the gambling problems associated with the tournament. Reading Rants!

If you’re a young adult, you have a great resource in this website for lists of suggested books to read—that you’ll actually enjoy. Jennifer Hubert is a YA librarian in New York who loves being able to suggest a book that her young adult patrons will enjoy and be inspired by. She creates theme lists of titles about every 2 months or so. Check this site out if you are a teen or you know one who’s looking for something to read.
