Virtual Tourism

April 29, 2007

This blog combines descriptions from Wikipedia with videos from YouTube and Lonely Planet…and satellite photos from GoogleMaps to make a great site for looking at tourist spots around the world. You may search by country. Scroll down the site list on the left and click on any of the destinations; a GoogleMap will appear that you may manipulate as usual, i.e., zoom in and out and move in all four directions. If you want to see the accompnaying video, just click on the red icon that pinpoints the destination on the map.

What do Atlanta, Denver, Houston, and Seattle have in common? They have all been designated as Best Workplaces For Commuters districts.

“Sometimes outstanding commuter benefits are provided not by the employers themselves, but by another organization such as a business park, downtown district, developer, or property manager. To recognize these areas for their leadership, EPA designates them a Best Workplaces for Commuters District. Across the country, more and more communities are earning this prestigious designation. From urban centers to suburban and even rural settings, each of these areas is taking commuter benefits to a new level, providing a valuable advantage to local businesses and the people who work there.”
