The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program helps consumers and businesses make choices for healthy oceans. Our recommendations indicate which seafood items are “Best Choices,” “Good Alternatives,” and which ones you should “Avoid.”

Seafood Watch recommendations are science-based, peer reviewed, and use ecosystem-based criteria. Since 1999, we’ve distributed tens of millions of pocket guides, our iPhone application has been downloaded more than 70,000 times, and we have close to 200 partners across North America, including the two largest food service companies in the U.S.

Broadway Ticket Discounts

April 24, 2009

There are multiple ways to obtain discounts for tickets to Broadway shows depending on where you are, how far ahead you’re buying the tickets and how much time you have to spend on getting the discount. If you’re buying tickets in advance, there are free online discount codes, offered by the show’s producers, that can be used to get anywhere from 20-50% off the face value of the ticket. Broadwaybox.com is a website that provides a compilation of all the discount codes available.

Babygadget

April 24, 2009

We came across the Babygadget blog and thought it would be ideal to pass along in time for Mother’s Day gift shopping and to help out parents every other day of the year. Babygadget highlights “contemporary finds for modern tots.” We thought the giant Post-It pad table was brilliant.

Travel Via Kayak

January 8, 2009

Kayak is a free travel search engine started by founders of Orbitz, Travelocity and Expedia who believed in a better online travel experience. Kayak is not a store.  They search hundreds of travel sites from all over the world, provide the information to you in an easy-to-use display and send you directly to the source to make your purchase.  Once you make your choice, they link to the travel sites to make your purchase. Kayak allows you to choose which site to purchase from– through an online travel agency or consolidator such as Orbitz or Airfare.com. Kayak’s search engine can find all kinds of travel products– from flights and hotels to rental cars and cruises.

Looking to get away? You’re not alone. Tablethotels.com will give you a hand finding a discounted price off some pretty spiffy hotels. Their site showcases hotels, mostly boutique-type, from around the world. The best part is that these each of these hotels has passed muster with the Tablet selection committee. Hotels can’t buy their way on to the lists and the reviews are supplied by customers who have actually stayed at the hotels so the ratings are fiddle-proof. Click on the “Great Hotel Deals” button for deals around the world–based on availablilty.
